London and Great Yarmouth Recompression Chambers

Elective Referrals

Healthcare Professionals may call one of our Duty Doctors or clinical staff at any time during normal working hours for information or advice on how to proceed with the process of referral.

Our Nurse Manager or Duty Physician will then contact the patient directly and arrange for an assessment to take place at short notice. Our centre has no waiting list for these assessments, which can normally be set up within a few days.

After the assessment individual cases will be presented to the appropriate commissioning agency, normally a Primary Care Trust (PCT) or Healthcare Insurance Agency, by our medical team, so that approval can be granted before treatment begins. The speed at which approval may be granted depends on the Commissioning Agency's assessment of our presentation and the financial resources available to them for this particular Care Programme. This process can take between 2 weeks and 3 months and may finally be turned down completely in some cases.

Our team will contact the patient directly as soon as we have received final notice from the Commissioning Agency concerning the request for funding approval.
Patients attending for the assessment and treatment of Problem Wounds will be asked to fill in a questionnaire to assist us with our clinical audit.

Transport to and from the assessment can be arranged through our Centre, where necessary and transport arrangements are discussed at the time of the assessment.

Our Centre has an experienced team of friendly Doctors Nurses and Technicians who will make every effort to ensure that your visit to the Hyperbaric facility is as pleasant as possible.
