What are our treatment chambers like? The Sechrist Model 2500B Monoplace Chamber The monoplace chamber is a clear acrylic tube, about 2200 mm (7 feet) long, inside which the patient lies comfortably. It is large enough to turn from side to side, but not to sit up in. You can listen to the radio or watch television. You can talk at any time through the intercom, to the member of staff immediately next to the chamber. There have been one or more monoplace therapy chambers at Whipps Cross Hospital ever since the unit was established over thirty years ago. The chamber is compressed on air then flushed with pure oxygen for the treatment.
